Early Life and Education

Sir Keir Starmer, the current leader of the Labour Party, was born on 2nd September 1962. Growing up, he attended Reigate Grammar School before pursuing his legal education at Leeds University. After graduating, he qualified as a barrister and later became Queen's Counsel in 2002.

Legal Career and Public Service

Prior to entering politics, Starmer had a distinguished legal career. He served as Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) from 2008 to 2013, where he oversaw high-profile cases and implemented significant reforms. After leaving the Crown Prosecution Service, he was knighted for his contributions to public service.

Entry into Politics

Starmer first entered politics in 2015, winning the parliamentary seat for Holborn and St Pancras. He quickly rose through the ranks of the Labour Party, holding several Shadow Cabinet positions under Jeremy Corbyn's leadership. In 2020, Starmer was elected leader of the Labour Party and has since led the party through the COVID-19 pandemic and several by-elections.

Personal Life

Sir Keir Starmer is married to Victoria Starmer, a lawyer-turned-occupational health worker. They have two children, a 15-year-old son and a daughter. Despite his busy political schedule, Starmer values his family time and often speaks about the importance of work-life balance.
