Starkville, Miss. - Mississippi State right-handed outfielder Dakota Jordan has been named the 2024 recipient of the prestigious Ferriss Trophy, presented by the Southeastern Conference to the league's player of the year.
Jordan, a native of Canton, Mississippi, had a breakout season for the Bulldogs, leading the SEC in batting average (.415), home runs (23), and runs batted in (87). He also stole 26 bases and posted a 1.175 OPS.
In addition to his offensive prowess, Jordan was a standout in the field, committing only two errors in 119 chances. He also made several spectacular catches, including a diving grab in the outfield that saved a potential game-winning hit.
Jordan's performance helped lead Mississippi State to a 45-17 record and a berth in the College World Series. He was named a first-team All-American and was drafted in the first round of the 2024 MLB Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
