Fa Cup Replays Record

The Longest-Ever FA Cup Tie Finally Finishes

A Match to Remember

The Manor Ground played host to two of the five replays between Alvechurch and Oxford City, but it was ultimately Oxford City who emerged victorious in the longest-ever FA Cup tie.

A History of Replays

Replays have been a part of the FA Cup since its inception in 1871. The first replay took place in the 1872-73 season, and over the years there have been some truly memorable matches that have gone to extra time or even penalties.

One of the most famous FA Cup replays is the 1983 third round replay between Newcastle and Brighton. The first match ended in a 1-1 draw, and the replay saw Brighton win 1-0 at Newcastle's St James' Park ground.

Another notable FA Cup replay is the 2015-16 quarter-final replay between Manchester United and West Ham United. The first match ended in a 1-1 draw, and the replay saw Manchester United win 2-1 after extra time.

The New Wembley Stadium

Since 1999, all FA Cup replays have taken place at the new Wembley Stadium. The stadium has been the permanent venue of the final since 2007, and it has also hosted a number of replays in the earlier rounds of the competition.
